Coaching Options

Your membership with the 501 Running Club does not include individual coaching.

If you would like to explore individualized attention in addition to your membership with the 501 Running Club, you may contact one of the following USATF and/or RRCA certified coaches who offer individual coaching at reduced prices for 501 Running Club members, and will incorporate the Club’s sponsored activities (speed work and Saturday morning supported long runs) into your individualized training plan.

Coach Lee’s approach to coaching runners uniquely blends the architectural design process with running. As an architect designs a building to uniquely and functionally “fit” to a specific site, Coach Lee “fits” specifically designs a training schedule to each runner. The importance of disciplined approach, analysis, planning, adapting, creativity, and are applied to fit each runner’s specific goals and objectives.

Training begins with an evaluation of each runner. Coach Lee will prepare an overall training plan that generally outlines each week’s runs. However, a plan outlining specific miles for each day of the week is not really a plan for success. Coach Lee provides specific runs and workouts spelling out in detail the type of run, pace, distance, and other advice. The plan is different for each runner and designed to meet each runner’s overall goal for their training.

Coach Lee has coached runners in the following races; Detroit Marathon (full and half), Chicago Marathon, Marine Corp Marathon, New York City Marathon. He is currently working with runners who are training to compete at The Glass City Marathon, and Bayshore Marathon.

In 2017 Coach Lee established “The Running Architect” where he provides individualized coaching services to distance runners. www.therunningarchitect.com

Are you interested in running a distance race for the first time and want to finish strong and injury free? Or have you run a few races and know that you could have done better? Maybe you are an experienced runner trying to PR or qualify for Boston. No matter what level you’re at, Coach Suzi can provide the tools and knowledge needed to achieve your running goals.

With over 45 years of running experience, Coach Suzi Stock began as a competitive short distance track racer, all the while envying the long-distance runners. It wasn’t until years later that she made the transition to becoming one herself. Now having completed over 30 marathons, including the New York City, the Marine Corps, the Paris, and the Chicago Marathons, she recognizes that there is something to learn from every race.

After helping other runners take on the challenge of running half and full marathons, she discovered her passion for coaching. Coach Suzi is a USATF and RRCA certified coach with over 15 years of coaching experience.  As a 17 season half and full marathon coach for the 501 Running Fit program, as well as a TNT and a private coach; she has had success coaching all levels of runners, from beginners, high school and college competitors, to military personnel and local area elite runners.

Once a detailed assessment is made, Coach Suzi will craft a personal training program, incorporating specific workouts, with time and mileage targets on a weekly basis. Key program components will include strength and endurance training. Understanding that life can sometimes interfere with a runner’s training progress, adjustments are made to keep runners on track.
